JW Anderson Collection 2010

Vivienne Westwood 1993 A/W Collection : Anglimania

JW Anderson's collection from 2010.

What I love about JW Anderson designs is how the collection is put together successfully and he has stayed true to his design stance to design things that can be borrowed from a man to a woman and from a woman to a man. I think this is a great idea what with the throw-away fashion society we live in that clothing has another chance to be loved by someone completely different from the previous owner.

I can see similarities in this collection with many designs of the great Vivienne Westwood. I think Anderson's collection shows the same fascination that Westwood has with the Scottish Tradition of tartan and I hope he too will have this theme reoccurring in future collections.

Collage Meets Paint.

Recycling Materials.

Here I have been experimenting with a new method. I have used the dried up clumps of paint you find in an artist paint palette to create some designs for a fashion collection. This I thought was an interesting way of recycling what would often be thought of as waste.

Before I would remove the paint from the palette I coated the clumps with PVA glue to help me to peel away the paint in strips. It is the PVA glue which gives the plastic like shine to these textile experimentations which I think are a successful way of looking at recycling.

Geometric twist and turns.

Initial starting points.

Geometrics in the City of London.

Over the summer I was gathering ideas for a future project and so was doing initial research into geometrics. Which initially I thought would be a pretty dull starting point as it is a topic that appears at least one a year in various designers collections. This reaction was to change as I got further into the development stage and realise most things around us are formed of geometric shapes and so there was much to explore and experiment with despite my initial reaction.

To produce my drawings and collages I found inspiration within the Tate modern from painting by Pablo Picasso. Although my biggest burst of inspiration came from the numerous architectural delights around London.

Abstracting Layers.

Using a variety of mixed media's I have created these textile samples showing various locations around Bournemouth. Abstract work for me involves a free mind, in which you let your imagination run away from you.

'Big Freeze Inspiration'
During Britain's big freeze earlier this year I took these photos along with many others to inspired me with my latest project on autumn/winter. Trees to me are interesting as you will never find any two the same.
